The Jordanian royal family is celebrating. Princess Iman, daughter of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, has become a mother of twins with her husband, Jameel Alexander Thermiotis. The girls were born on Friday, August 14, according to the Hashemite Royal Court.
The news carried an additional, unexpected detail: up to the moment of birth, it had not publicly been announced that Iman was expecting twins. When Queen Rania announced her daughter’s pregnancy in July, she shared a touching family photograph in which Iman appeared with her husband and their young daughter Amina, but she made no reference to a multiple pregnancy.
Now, the royal family has two new members and the names chosen carry a special meaning. The babies are named Talia and Rania, according to Queen Rania herself on her social media as she celebrated the arrival of her granddaughters.

One of the details that drew the most attention was the choice of the names. One of the twins bears the same name as her maternal grandmother: Rania, the Queen Consort of Jordan and one of the most recognizable figures in the royal family.
The queen shared her happiness at the arrival of the little ones and publicly congratulated her daughter Iman and Jameel on the birth of their two daughters.
For Rania, the birth of the twins also marks the arrival of two new granddaughters to a family that has seen several births in recent years. With Talia and Rania, Abdullah II and Rania are now grandparents to four girls.
The Princess Iman of Jordan is already a mother to Amina
The twins are the second and third daughters of Iman and Jameel, who were already parents to Amina, born in February 2025. In this way, the one-year-and-a-half-old little girl became the older sister to two babies unexpectedly.
The pregnancy had been announced by Queen Rania with a family photo in which Amina appeared alongside her mother. On that occasion, the monarch celebrated the arrival of a new member to the family and the fact that her granddaughter would become an older sister.
Who is Princess Iman of Jordan?
Iman, 29, is the second child and the first daughter of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania. She was born on September 27, 1996, and grew up alongside her siblings: Crown Prince Hussein, Princess Salma, and Prince Hashem.
In March 2023, she married Jameel Alexander Thermiotis, a Greco-Venezuelan businessman, in a ceremony held at Beit Al Urdun Palace in Amman.
The couple has kept a relatively low profile and has chosen to share occasional moments of their family life, especially through Queen Rania’s posts.
