Gala for You: Pablo Ramírez Reinterprets 20th-Century Icons Through a Haute Couture Lens

22 August 2026

The Para Ti Gala was also an opportunity to revisit some of the great icons that built the history of fashion. For this edition, Pablo Ramírez decided to look toward the wardrobe of the 20th century and recover pieces that have remained installed in the collective imagination.

Together with Rocío Somoza, the designer presented a proposal that starts from a figure as emblematic as Marlon Brando, but takes it to another territory: the architectural silhouettes of the great masters of haute couture.

Marlon Brando as a Starting Point

The inspiration arose from an image that is part of the history of cinema and fashion: Marlon Brando wearing jeans and a perfect leather jacket.

Ramírez took that masculine, rebellious and timeless imaginary and reinterpreted it through his own language, crossing it with the constructions of foundational figures of haute couture such as Charles James, Balenciaga and Dior.

The result proposes a dialogue between two seemingly opposing worlds: the informal strength of denim and leather against the precision, volume and structure typical of haute couture.

Denim, Tul, and Patent Leather: The Materials of the Look

The proposal was built from a selection of materials that reinforce that contrast. The denim brings the urban spirit and the direct link to Brando’s aesthetics, while the tulle introduces lightness, transparency, and movement.

The patent leather adds a shiny, solid surface that reinforces the sophisticated character of the creation.

The combination of these materials allows the piece to traverse between the everyday and couture, one of the great attractions of Pablo Ramírez’s proposal.

The Pablo Ramírez Look: A Palette Between Black, Blue, and Natural

The color palette was also designed to accompany this dialogue of references. The black brings drama and sophistication; the blue recovers the presence of denim, while the natural tones function as a counterpoint and help balance the intensity of the proposal.

They are colors associated with classic wardrobe pieces that, in the designer’s hands, acquire a new dimension.

When an Icon Meets Haute Couture

The Pablo Ramírez proposal begins with an interesting question: what happens when an image as recognizable as Marlon Brando meets the grand constructions of haute couture?

The answer appears in a look where the memory of 20th-century wardrobe becomes a contemporary creation.

The designer is not trying to reproduce those codes literally, but to recover their essence and carry them into another language.

Pablo Ramírez and “Latency”

The pursuit also dialogues with the concept of this edition of the Gala: “Latency”.

Because behind a contemporary creation there are images, references, techniques, and knowledge that endure through time and reappear transformed.

In this case, Pablo Ramírez recovers the imagery of a cinema icon and the legacy of great haute couture masters to build a new piece.

The past as inspiration, the craft as a tool, and fashion as a way to look again at what we thought we knew.

A Night to Celebrate Argentine Fashion

The Gala Para Ti brought together on August 19 various figures from the local scene to celebrate the magazine’s 104th anniversary.

At the Palacio Basavilbaso, each muse wore a creation specially designed for this evening, in a celebration where “Latency” was the starting point to imagine new ways of understanding fashion and creativity.

With its stately architecture, its details inspired by French style and an atmosphere that blends history and sophistication, the Palacio Basavilbaso was the chosen stage for the Para Ti Gala. A unique space that, with its timeless elegance, made this night an even more special occasion.

Betano was part of the Para Ti gala with an activation inviting the night’s protagonists to experience something different, in line with its entertainment and fun proposition.

Drean joined the Para Ti gala with a proposal that combined design, innovation and technology, and surprised guests with an exclusive preview of its new era, through a preview of its next release.

Bodega Escorihuela Gascón joined a new edition of the Para Ti Gala, partnering with a selection of its wines for a night that celebrates the evolution of fashion and contemporary culture. This participation aligns with the brand’s strategic vision of inhabiting culturally relevant spaces, linking its legacy with the platforms and conversations that define today’s vanguard.

The Gala’s security was entrusted to Perroti, who accompanied the invited figures throughout the night.

In keeping with a night that celebrates fashion, the Gala Para Ti’s ambiance was managed by Mónica Pons Eventos, with a sophisticated and stylish presentation that complemented the elegance of Palacio Basavilbaso. @monicapons_eventos.
