Dior Wowed Paris with a Mathilde Favier Tribute and a Collection Celebrating Imperfect Beauty

30 September 2026

At Paris Fashion Week, Dior dedicated its Spring-Summer 2027 show to Mathilde Favier, the longtime public relations director of the house, who passed away in August. Under the creative direction of Jonathan Anderson, the collection found in nature a language to speak about beauty, transformation, and memory.

The setting was the octagonal pond of the Tuileries Garden, where a runway surrounded by artificial fog and camphor trees created a dreamlike atmosphere. The staging accompanied a proposal in which the garments appeared to respond to the movement of the body: light fabrics, drapes, and overlays that altered traditional proportions.

Dior’s Inspiration: a Beauty That Transforms Over Time

The starting point for Anderson was a traditional Chinese practice: to roll two wenwan nuts in the hand, a repeated gesture that, over time, polishes their surfaces and gives them a distinctive patina.

Guests were handed a pair of these nuts along with the invitation to the show. Their natural differences inspired the exploration of asymmetry that threaded through the collection.

That reference invites reading the garments from a suggestive idea: that use, irregularities, and the passage of time can also contribute beauty. On the runway, this perspective translated into wrinkled textures, displaced layers, and finishes that crowned movement as a protagonist.

Transparencies, Relaxed Tailoring, and Unexpected Mixes

Gauze and tulle skirts brought a sense of lightness to looks built from contrasts. Striped shirts and tartan-check scarves introduced a casual air, while drapes and overlays added volume.

The expansive tailoring was another essential element. Double-breasted blazers coexisted with delicate skirts, creating a balance between structure and fluidity. The garments seemed to leave room for every step to alter their form.

In the accessories, the extra-long floral earrings reinforced the play of proportions and drew attention to the face. The asymmetry functioned as a device that threaded through both garments and details.

A Tribute to Mathilde Favier

The emotional dimension of the show was linked to Mathilde Favier, a recognized and cherished presence within Dior. The head of public relations died in August in a road accident in France, in which her partner, film producer Nicolas Altmayer, also lost his life.

The show was dedicated to her memory. In that context, nature acquired a special meaning: the camphor trees used in the staging will be replanted in the garden, according to the material released about the show.

That gesture extends the presentation beyond the runway. What was part of an ephemeral show will continue to grow at the Tuileries, as a way of memory.

A Collection to Look at Closely

With this proposal, Anderson returned to the meeting point between delicacy and structure. Transparencies, textured fabrics, and unexpected pairings invite watching how a garment changes as it moves and how a small imbalance can lend it character.

In the Paris garden, Dior presented a spring season shaped by that sensitivity: the beauty of differences and the traces left by time.
