If there is a brand capable of reinterpreting the American collegiate style season after season, that is Tommy Hilfiger. In the framework of the New York Fashion Week, the label chose the historic Plaza Hotel to present its Spring-Summer 2027 collection, a proposal that updates the codes of the preppy without losing its essence.
Under Tommy Hilfiger’s watch, the classics of the American wardrobe return with new proportions, intense colors and a much more relaxed vibe, proving that elegance can also feel fresh and spontaneous.

The Preppy Style Returns to Take Center Stage

Inspired by the aesthetics of the East Coast United States universities, the preppy style returns this season with a more modern and relaxed version.

Traditional silhouettes are updated through oversized cuts, new proportions and a palette that blends the brand’s classic red, white and blue with accents of vibrant yellow and deep green, two colors set to dominate the upcoming spring-summer season.

Tommy Hilfiger Classics Reinvented
The collection brings back some of the brand’s most iconic pieces, but with a completely refreshed viewpoint.

Rugby-style dresses appear in color-blocked sections, while Oxford shirts incorporate Ithaca stripes and the traditional tartan blazers reclaim the university spirit that defines the brand.

Polo shirts, another of Tommy Hilfiger’s great icons, come in both fitted and oversized versions, with small embroidery of the brand’s crest and collars worn up to reinforce the collegiate inspiration.

Chinos also transform into high-waisted shorts and designs that incorporate denim-inspired details, offering a much more contemporary look.

Accessories Complete the New Preppy
The range extends into the accessory universe, where Tommy Hilfiger’s DNA also reinvents itself.

XL bags showcase the brand’s flag reinterpreted on materials such as superfine suede and blends of silk with cashmere.

Regarding footwear, the collection bets on two-tone sneakers with a 90s-inspired vibe, nautical shoes, penny loafers, and new leather sandal versions, combining tradition and practicality.
The Plaza Hotel, Stage for a Very Personal Collection

The show took place at the legendary Plaza Hotel, a space especially meaningful for Tommy Hilfiger, who lived there with his family.

“For forty years I have been inspired by the way New Yorkers take the classics and make them their own. This season, The Plaza is our playground, where Tommy’s icons feel reimagined and refined for today,” said the designer.

A Front Row Full of Stars
The presentation brought together figures from fashion, music, cinema and sports. Gigi Hadid opened the show, while in the front row were Kate Moss, Camila Cabello, JISOO, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Arón Piper, Ryan Castro and Carmelo Anthony, among other guests.

The finale was led by Romeo Beckham, who walked the collection’s last look, while singer Slayyyter closed with a live performance that turned the runway into a true celebration of the Tommy Hilfiger universe.

Beyond individual garments, the collection sends a clear message: the preppy style returns to a central role in fashion, but with a much freer and more contemporary attitude.

Vibrant colors, reinterpretations of classics, functional accessories and a strong university-inspired ethos make this offering one of the strongest and most commercial of New York Fashion Week.
