Netflix has once again found in a real-life story one of its most striking phenomena. The Death of the Pastor’s Wife reached the top spot among the world’s most-watched series and logged more than 31 million hours viewed.

Mica Miller was found dead on April 27, 2024 at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina. Authorities determined she died by suicide.

The former pastor faces federal charges for alleged cyberstalking and for allegedly making false statements to investigators.
According to the indictment, the alleged harassment of Mica began in November 2022 and continued up to her death. John-Paul Miller pleaded not guilty and his legal situation remains unresolved, so the charges do not amount to a conviction. His federal trial is scheduled for October 2026.
The docuseries also gathers testimonies from people close to the couple and examines various allegations of infidelity, control, and manipulation within the marriage.
