Netflix added to its catalog The Map of Yearnings, the eagerly awaited adaptation of the titular novel by Alice Kellen, one of the most-read authors in contemporary romantic literature. The Spanish production leans into a story woven with love, grief, the search for identity, and second chances, in a six-episode format.
With an intimate and emotive approach, the series is designed for those who enjoy romantic dramas with complex characters and stories of personal growth.
The story centers on Greta, a young woman who always believed she had arrived in the world with a very clear mission: to save the life of her sister Lucy, who suffers from leukemia, thanks to a stem cell donation. However, when Lucy dies, Greta feels she loses the purpose that had guided her entire existence.

Before departing, her sister leaves her a very special gift: “El mapa de los anhelos”, a game composed of various challenges that invite her to step out of her comfort zone, confront the pain, and discover who she really wants to be.
During that journey she meets Will, a young man who also carries deep emotional wounds. As they share experiences, a bond forms that will help them heal, rediscover themselves, and open themselves up to love again.
A cast led by new Spanish talents
The miniseries is led by: Alícia Falcó as Greta, Pablo Álvarez as Will and Georgina Amorós as Lucy. The cast is completed by Laia Marull, Mario de la Rosa and Ramón Barea, under the direction of Laura M. Campos and Gemma Ferraté.
If you enjoyed other adaptations of contemporary romance novels, “The Map of Yearnings” could become your next marathon.
In addition to romance, the series tackles themes such as grief, mental health, family bonds, and the importance of finding a new purpose after a loss. All of this is told with a sensitive narrative and characters who evolve throughout the episodes.
With only six episodes, it’s an ideal option to watch over a weekend and let yourself be carried away by a story that blends emotion, hope, and second chances.
