We Had Told Him Not to Go Out So Much: Marcela Tinayre Spoke About Mirtha Legrand’s Health

16 September 2026

Mirtha Legrand was discharged from the hospital after nearly a week at Sanatorio Mater Dei due to bronchitis. The 99-year-old host returned home to continue her recovery, and her daughter, Marcela Tinayre, shared an update on her current condition.

The hospitalization began on Monday, September 7, after several days of respiratory symptoms that also forced the suspension of The Night of Mirtha filming. During her absence, her granddaughter Juana Viale led the El Trece program. Medical reports released during the stay indicated that Mirtha was progressing well and without complications.

Back home, Tinayre offered reassurance about her mother’s health and explained how the recovery is advancing.

“She’s doing very well; she’s still recovering because she was discharged yesterday. From the bronchitis, what bothers her most is the cough, and it could last 15 or 20 days,” Marcela explained when asked about her mother’s condition.

The daughter of Mirtha also clarified that, although she still experiences coughing, the evolution is positive. “She’s dealing with that, but she’s cured, so to speak,” she stated.

According to the latest medical bulletin, Mirtha left Sanatorio Mater Dei on Sunday and will continue her recovery at home. The institution had previously reported that she was progressing favorably and remained under medical supervision.
