Marina and Ángel dreamed of building a family through adoption. They had signed up to welcome up to two children, but during a court interview they discovered that those kids had three more siblings. Today they are already parents to three of them and are fighting to bring all five under the same roof. To make this possible, they need to expand their home and seek a loan that would allow them to add a bedroom and an extra bathroom.
The story began in February 2025, when Marina Casella and Ángel Mangas enrolled in the Registry of Applicants for Guardianship Aimed at Adoption. She, 35, is an English teacher and also works at a high school; he, 28, works in gastronomy. They live in Henderson, a town in Buenos Aires Province with about 9,000 inhabitants.
In November of that year they received the call they had been waiting for: two small siblings were looking for a family and wanted to be interviewed. The couple traveled to Buenos Aires and, after several steps, the moment arrived to meet them.
But during one of the interviews at the courthouse they received information that would forever change the plan they had in mind: those two children had three more siblings, who were also up for adoption.
