There are absences that leave an impossible wound to heal. For the children of Nancy Godoy, the 52-year-old teacher murdered in Corrientes, the search for their mother ended in the worst possible way: with the confirmation that they would never again be able to embrace her.
“More than 20 days ago they took away the love of our lives: me, my brothers and her husband,” said Adán, one of them, during a march to demand justice in front of the Esquina courthouse.
With their voices strained by pain, the three children of the teacher spoke before family, friends, colleagues and neighbors who mobilized to demand that the crime not go unpunished. In addition to insisting that those responsible receive the maximum penalty, they questioned the treatment of the Justice system during the search and the lack of information that, they claimed, the family endured. Meanwhile, the early autopsy results began to reveal the violence with which Nancy was killed.

The Demand of Nancy Godoy’s Children to the Judiciary
During the mobilization, Adán listed the various ties his mother had with the community and expressed the void left by her death. “Today we are missing our mother, a teacher, a colleague, a neighbor, a friend,” he said. Then, overwhelmed by anguish, he added: “We have no strength left. These animals who did this to my mother have no forgiveness.”
The young man also pointed to the situation facing the locality and launched a strong accusation: “The power here rules more than anyone.”
Sebastián, another son of the teacher, questioned the action of the Judicial Power and the lack of information that, according to him, the family received during the investigation.
“From day one we were treated poorly by the local Judicial Power. It was a disgrace the way they behaved, for the little information they gave us”, he maintained. He also expressed his disagreement with the officials who participated in the case and demanded answers.
José, the third son of Godoy, revealed another detail that deepened the family’s discontent: they learned of their mother’s body being found through social media and the press.
During his remarks, he urged that those responsible receive the maximum sentence. “Those who harmed my mother will have to pay; they deserve life imprisonment, they deserve the worst, they are not people,” he stated.
Toward the end of his message, he summarized the demand that led the family and the neighbors to mobilize in front of the Esquina courthouse: “I only ask for justice and that those who have to pay do so. And let those who must fall, fall.”

What Nancy Godoy’s Autopsy Revealed
While the family demanded justice, the first results of the autopsy conducted on Nancy Godoy’s body at the Forensic Medical Institute of Corrientes were released. The preliminary report determined that the teacher suffered an extremely violent death, with multiple stab and slash wounds in various parts of the body, including the face, the neck, the abdomen, the arms and the legs. Some of these injuries showed signs of having occurred while she was still alive.
Forensic experts also detected injuries on the forearms compatible with struggles or defensive maneuvers. Given the multiplicity and characteristics of the wounds, the report indicated that several weapons could have been used.
Additionally, there were severings of various parts of the body and the left hand was amputated. The condition of the remains was also affected by the activity of animals in the area.

One of the points that has not yet been determined is whether Godoy suffered sexual assault. Due to the state in which the remains were found, the studies conducted so far did not allow establishing this. Therefore, investigators continue with complementary analyses to search for biological markers and genetic material that can provide information about what happened.
Entomological studies were also requested, with the collaboration of specialists from Córdoba, to try to determine the time of death. In parallel, the Genomic Medicine Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of the Northeast (UNNE) participates in genetic analyses.
An Investigation Aiming to Clarify the Crime
The body of Nancy Estela Godoy, 52, was found on Wednesday, October 28, semi-submerged in a marshy area of a wooded zone in the El Malezal hamlet, in the Esquina department. The teacher served as a substitute at a rural school in the area and had been intensely searched for more than two weeks.
There are five people detained in the case, with different charges. The investigation seeks to reconstruct the crime’s circumstances, determine each person’s involvement, and establish whether the place where the body was found was also the site of the attack.
As the expert analyses and judicial proceedings advance, the family of Nancy Godoy and an entire community await answers. In front of the courthouse, her children gave voice to the demand shared by those who knew her: that the crime be clarified and that those found responsible answer to Justice.
