Soledad Silveyra Spoke About Her Health and Her Desire to Return to Work: “What Makes Me Feel Good”

27 August 2026

On the occasion of the International Day of the Actor and Actress, Soledad Silveyra opened up and shared how she is currently navigating her recovery. Weeks ago, the 74-year-old actress had revealed on Mirtha Legrand’s show that she was facing a complex health moment.

In addition to the fracture of her sixth lumbar vertebra suffered after a fall, she developed a condition in the hip area that causes pain and limits her movements.

Soledad is suffering from trochanteritis, a term used to describe pain localized in the area of the greater trochanter, a bony prominence located on the outer part of the hip. Currently, the term greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS) is also used to refer to a set of alterations that may involve the tendons, muscles and bursae in that region.

“The other day I got into a taxi. The man listened to me speak and, as he watched me in the rearview mirror, he asked: ‘Mónica?’ 🚕 It’s been 54 years since Rolando Rivas, taxi driver, and Mónica is still out there,” she recalled, referring to the beloved character she portrayed in fiction.

She then reflected on the meaning that acting holds in her life. “Acting is a ritual: conveying different emotions, portraying various characters, and never fully believing in it. It’s an exercise in humility,” she expressed.

With a more personal touch, Silveyra spoke directly about her hopes for the coming months. “Today, on the International Day of the Actor and Actress, I think about how eager I am to recover, to be well, and to return to work. Because acting is what I know how to do and, above all, what makes me feel good,” she stated.

The memory of Luis Brandoni

The post also had a particularly emotional moment when Soledad remembered Luis Brandoni, her great friend and colleague, who died in mid-April of this year while they were both performing in a theater production.

“And as Beto used to say: ‘The stage cures everything’. And I believe him ❤️,” she wrote, invoking one of the phrases that the actor used to say.

“Happy day, colleagues. I love you and thank you for having accompanied me over these 62 years, which is a long time 🧚🏻‍♀️,” she added at the end of her message.

To accompany her words, Soledad chose a carousel of photographs that trace different moments of her extensive career. The images feature characters and colleagues who were important in her career, including Sandro, Mirtha Legrand, Osvaldo Laport, and Brandoni himself.

The publication received thousands of “likes” and numerous messages from colleagues and followers, who celebrated her career and sent their best wishes for this stage of recovery.
