Eight months after the birth of Dante, the son of Chino Darín and Úrsula Corberó, Ricardo Darín spoke again about his experience as a grandfather. In an interview on Todo Pasa, Urbana Play’s program, the actor recalled how he found out his son was going to become a father and revealed the reason his wife, Florencia Bas, got angry with him.
“I haven’t even gotten over the first stage yet, which is the affectionate shock I felt when I learned my son was going to be a father,” he said tenderly as he described how he’s living this new family phase.
When recalling the moment he received the news, Darín said that Chino Darín told him during the early months of the pregnancy, when it was still important to keep the information private.
“He told me it a little bit like a secret. Those things that happen in the first months of pregnancy,” he recalled.
Why Florencia Bas Was Angry With Ricardo Darín
The actor explained that his son had explicitly asked him not to share the news with anyone. “Please, please don’t say anything,” he recalled about the Chino’s words.
However, that request ended up creating an awkward situation at home. When Florencia Bas learned that her husband already knew they were going to be grandparents, she reproached him for not telling her.
“She told me: ‘Did you know and you didn’t tell me?’ And I told her that he had told me not to say anything,” Darín recalled about the argument with which he tried to justify himself.

But his explanation wasn’t enough to prevent his wife’s anger. “But were you able not to tell me?” Florencia asked him, an anecdote that drew laughs during the interview.
Beyond the joy of becoming a grandfather, Darín highlighted that one of the most moving moments was seeing his son become a father.
“I saw Chino come out of the operating room elevator. I saw him walking toward me with the baby in his arms… There’s nothing that surpasses that. I mean, the grandfather part comes after. First is that thing… your son becomes a father,” he explained, recalling Dante’s arrival.
The actor also spoke with enthusiasm about the baby’s personality and described him with affection: “He’s sturdy and has an incredible vibe, he doesn’t cry. He smiles, he’s fabulous.”
How Ricardo Darín Handles the Distance With His Grandson
Ricardo and Florencia live in Buenos Aires, while Chino Darín and Úrsula Corberó reside in Spain. Therefore, family gatherings require organizing trips and making the most of the time together.
“We’ve already traveled five times to see him. Then they came here, which was wonderful… And now we go back there and so on,” he said about the reunions.
Although they stay in touch by phone, the actor acknowledged that distance is felt especially during the first months of life, when changes in growth are very rapid. In that sense, he explained that in-person meetings allow enjoying a stage that evolves week by week.
Thus, Darín once again shared his experience as a grandfather and made clear that Dante’s arrival also meant discovering a new facet of his son, one of the emotions he cherishes most in this family phase.
