If we still haven’t finished processing all the feelings Outlander gave us, there’s good news: the universe of the series keeps growing. Outlander: Blood of My Blood has just released the trailer for its second season, and we already have a date to travel through time again.
The prequel returns to Disney+ on Saturday, September 19, with new episodes that will drop weekly.
And yes, for those of us who fell in love with the story of Claire and Jamie, returning to this universe holds a special appeal. This time, the focus is on the generations that came before them and on two love stories that, though they take place in different eras, are bound together by fate.

The series continues to develop the stories of Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, Jamie’s parents, in the 18th-century Scottish Highlands, and of Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, Claire’s parents, in England tied to World War I.
In this second season, both couples must once again face circumstances that test their bonds. In Scotland, Brian and Ellen must deal with the consequences of their flight in a land traversed by the impending Jacobite rebellion.
Meanwhile, Julia and Henry will continue attempting to stay together after the journey through the stones forever changed their lives.
That is as far as we can tell. Because, if there’s one thing we’ve learned after so many seasons of Outlander, time travel is never easy.

The new trailer again brings to the table some of the elements that made the first season work within Diana Gabaldon’s universe: sweeping Scottish landscapes, family ties, romance, and historical conflicts that eventually affect the intimate lives of its protagonists.
The Jacobite rebellion again takes a central place in Brian and Ellen’s story, while Julia and Henry’s plot continues to explore the consequences of that particular link between past and present.
Thus, the proposal keeps the heart of Outlander, but from a different perspective: discovering the stories of those who were before Claire and Jamie and uncovering how their decisions, loves, and conflicts form part of the universe we already know.

Season one of Blood of My Blood introduced two parallel romances separated by centuries and made Claire and Jamie’s parents the new protagonists of this story. Now, the second season picks up those paths and guides them toward new conflicts.
And perhaps that is part of the charm of this expansion of the Outlander universe: we know we’re entering familiar territory, but there are still many stories to uncover.
For the fans who have accompanied Claire and Jamie for years, returning to the Highlands, to the stones, and to that particular crossroads of love and time has something inevitably thrilling.
