This Tuesday marked one year since the death of Alejandra “Locomotora” Oliveras, one of Argentina’s foremost figures in boxing. To honor her memory, the official account of the former athlete, managed by her son Alejandro Oliveras, shared an emotional message accompanied by a video that reviews some of the most significant moments of her life.
The multiple-time champion passed away on July 28, 2025, at the age of 47, as a result of a massive pulmonary embolism and a refractory cardiac arrest, stemming from an ischemic stroke she had suffered days earlier.
In the post, Alejandro expressed the deep pain he still feels at his mother’s absence, though he emphasized that her legacy remains intact. “Today marks a year since my mom physically left us, and there are still days when it’s hard to believe she’s no longer here,” he began writing.
He then recalled the mark she left both inside and outside of sport. “But there is something time could not erase: her voice, her strength, the way she faced life and the message she left in every person who heard her,” he stated.
In another of the most emotive passages, Alejandro defined the former boxer with words that captured her spirit. “Our mom was not only a champion inside the ring. She was a fighter of life. She taught that it doesn’t matter how many times you fall, but how many times you get back up. That dreams are cultivated, that fear is faced, and that attitude can change a destiny“, he wrote.
Additionally, he shared how he tries to keep her example alive. “As her son, I miss her every day. As a man, I try to honor her legacy. And as millions of people, I continue learning from her“, he affirmed.

In the final part of the message, Alejandro invited people to remember his mother with inspiration rather than sadness. “The best tribute we can pay her isn’t to remember her with sorrow, but to live with the courage, the joy, and the determination to move forward that she conveyed“, he stated.
