Natalia Oreiro Receives Lifetime Achievement Award in Mar del Plata: “Let Us Be Kind to Each Other, Always”

7 November 2026

There are recognitions that invite you to look back, walk the path you have traveled, and thank those who were part of it. For Natalia Oreiro, receiving the Astor Piazzolla Award for Career was one of those special moments. This Friday, November 6, the actress was honored during the 41st edition of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, in a ceremony held at the Colón Theatre in the city.

The recognition celebrated a career built over more than two decades, in which Natalia managed to win the audience over through film, television, and music, solidifying herself as one of the region’s most beloved and recognized artists.

But beyond the distinction, the day was marked by her words. With the sensitivity that characterizes her, Oreiro reflected on the value of collective work, the importance of meeting the audience in movie theaters, and the need to recover something as simple as it is fundamental: kindness.

“I would like to ask that we be kind. That we be kind to others, always”, she stated. A phrase that ended up becoming one of the most meaningful messages of the tribute.

The honor was presented by Lorena Muñoz, director of Gilda, no me arrepiento de este amor, one of the most important films in Natalia Oreiro’s career. During the ceremony, the filmmaker recalled moments shared during the shoot and highlighted the actress’s commitment to each of her projects.

Also participating were the Festival’s co-directors, Jorge Stamadianos and Gabriel Lerman, who valued her artistic versatility and her contribution to the audiovisual industry.

Natalia’s trajectory includes film productions across different genres, from dramas to comedies, in addition to a long career in television and music. Her ability to portray very diverse characters and build a close connection with the audience allowed her to develop a career with significant international projection.

At this edition of the Festival, that journey was recognized with one of the most important honorary awards of the film event.

“Cinema Is Alive, and It’s Alive in the Hall”: Natalia Oreiro’s Message

During her tribute, the actress also spoke about the importance of preserving the meeting spaces between films and their audiences. Natalia highlighted the value of Argentina having an A-category film festival in Latin America and defended the experience of watching cinema on the big screen.

“Cinema is alive and it is alive in the hall”, she affirmed to the audience present.

Her words reflected a perspective that goes beyond productions and individual recognitions: cinema as a shared experience, as a space for gathering, and as a way to approach stories different from our own.

In a context where digital platforms transformed audiovisual consumption habits, Oreiro highlighted the emotion of sharing a film with other people.

She also dedicated the recognition to the workers of the audiovisual industry and to their families, emphasizing the effort and support behind every production.

Because, even though awards often bear a personal name, each film is the result of the work of many people who make it possible for a story to reach the screen.

The Wish Natalia Oreiro Made During the Tribute That Moved Everyone: “Let Us Be Kind”

One of the most touching moments of the ceremony came when Natalia shared a reflection that went beyond her artistic career. Far from focusing solely on her achievements, she chose to deliver a message related to how we relate to others.

“I would like to ask that we be kind. That we be kind to others, always.”

A simple, yet profound phrase that invites us to consider the importance of small everyday gestures.

Kindness, respect, and empathy are also part of life off-screen. And Natalia chose to take advantage of such a significant moment in her career to remind us of their value.

That message gave the tribute a particularly human dimension: that of an artist who, while receiving recognition for her career, also wished to speak about what she considers important in life.

Gilda, the Film That Defined Her Career and Again Moved Audiences in Mar del Plata

Lorena Muñoz, directora de Gilda, no me arrepiento de este amor, fue la encargada de entregarle el reconocimiento a Natalia Oreiro.

After the prize was awarded, the Festival presented a special screening of Gilda, no me arrepiento de este amor, the film directed by Lorena Muñoz and released in 2016.

The choice of the film held special meaning. In that production, Natalia took on the challenge of portraying Gilda, one of the most popular and beloved singers in Argentine music.

The film allowed approaching her story from an intimate perspective, showing not only the artist who captivated the public but also the woman behind the songs. For Oreiro, that character represented one of the most important works in her filmography.

Durante el homenaje, Natalia destacó la importancia de las salas de cine y expresó: "El cine está vivo y está vivo en la sala".

Ten years after its release, the Mar del Plata screening allowed audiences to reconnect with a performance that left a mark on her career.

And that it was Lorena Muñoz, the director of that film, who handed her the prize added a special emotion to the day.

A Career That Continues to Accumulate Recognitions

Throughout her career, Natalia Oreiro managed to build a very special bond with Argentine audiences and with viewers in various countries.

From her first television roles to her most acclaimed film performances, her journey has been marked by the ability to reinvent herself and take on new artistic challenges.

Natalia Oreiro cerró su intervención con un mensaje sobre los vínculos humanos: "Me gustaría pedir que seamos amables. Que seamos amables con el otro, siempre".

The Astor Piazzolla Award for Career represents recognition of that path, but also of a career that remains active and open to new projects.

The ceremony in Mar del Plata brought together past and present: memories of her most emblematic characters, the recognition of her colleagues, and the opportunity to once again share a film with the audience. And among the applause and emotions, Natalia left a reflection that may be as valuable as the prize itself.

“Let us be kind to others, always”.

Because, in the end, beyond professional achievements, the impact we leave on the people with whom we share the journey also matters.
