Jimena Monteverde Reveals How Mirtha Legrand Is Doing and What She’s Doing During Her Hospitalization

24 September 2026

Mirtha Legrand remains hospitalized at the Mater Dei Clinic while she recovers from pneumonia, but the latest health news brought relief. On Wednesday, Jimena Monteverde, one of the cooks who accompanies the diva on her programs, shared how she is faring these days and assured that she is “very well”.

In an interview with Puro Show (El Trece), Monteverde revealed even some details of Mirtha’s routine during her hospitalization. “Yesterday she was watching TV. She wants to go home, so she is very well,” the cook said.

She explained that she does not maintain direct communication with the host because, during these days, contact is reserved mainly for family and close acquaintances. Still, Monteverde said she checks in daily to learn updates on her evolution.

I have the daily update that I ask for,” she said, and added that Mirtha is resting well: “She sleeps very well, has a good night.”

How Mirtha Legrand is faring

Monteverde’s words were released on the same day that the Mater Dei Clinic issued a new medical bulletin about Mirtha’s health. The statement, signed by medical director Enrique Echagüe, reported that the host “continues to improve day by day from the pneumonia that prompted her hospitalization, with a good evolution.”

However, doctors decided that she would remain hospitalized in the coming days to keep her under observation and provide the necessary care. According to the medical center, unless there are changes, the next bulletin will be released on Friday, September 25.

The host, 99, had been hospitalized again on Friday, September 18, five days after being discharged from a first hospitalization. On that occasion, she had experienced a respiratory episode and continued coughing, so she had not yet resumed her usual activities.

In this second hospitalization, the initial Mater Dei bulletin indicated she presented a condition compatible with pneumonia and would remain at the medical center for tests, receiving treatment and staying under observation.

“Everyone misses her”: Jimena Monteverde’s message

In addition to sharing how Mirtha is faring, Monteverde spoke about the bond they share and how much her absence is felt on the program.

For me it is an honor, imagine. She is the diva of our television and of the world,” said the cook, who works with Legrand on her traditional programs.

Monteverde also stated that the entire team misses the host during filming. “Everyone, everyone misses her,” she affirmed.

The cook recalled that, before this new hospitalization, Mirtha had already endured several days with a lot of coughing. During one of the recordings of La Noche de Mirtha, the team knew she was not feeling well, and they ultimately decided to hospitalize her as a precaution.

Now, as she continues under medical observation, the news about her evolution is favorable. Mirtha remains hospitalized, but according to the latest Mater Dei bulletin she is improving day by day and, according to what Monteverde said, even maintains the desire to return home.
