After 14 days of searching, this Wednesday the news that nobody wanted to hear was confirmed: the body of Lucas Gámez was found, the 8-year-old Argentine boy who had been missing since the double earthquake that affected Venezuela on June 24.
Hours after the outcome became known, his father, Marcos Gámez, broke his silence and shared an emotional message in which he spoke of the pain of losing his son, thanked the rescuers’ work and left a plea for families still waiting to find their loved ones.
Unable to hide his emotion, he also revealed that he lacked the strength to face one of the most difficult moments.
“I didn’t have the courage to go or to see him. Other relatives took care of it”, he confessed when referring to the transfer of Lucas’s body from the La Guaira morgue.
