There are series that become part of our lives, and Grey’s Anatomy holds a special place on that list. After so many farewells, romances, and impossible emergencies, Grey Sloan Memorial reopens its doors with a new season that promises to put its doctors in front of difficult choices, both inside and outside the operating room.
The full trailer for season 23, presented exclusively by Entertainment Weekly, previews several of the stories that will shape the new episodes: Meredith is back in the spotlight, the hospital adds a VIP wing, and personal relationships threaten to complicate everything.
Meredith Grey Returns to the Center of the Story
Ellen Pompeo returns as Meredith Grey, whose presence remains one of the series’ main draws, although since season 19 she has had a more limited role.
The trailer again shows her involved in the life of the hospital, now facing a transformation that promises to generate tensions: the opening of a new VIP wing.
On a personal level, Meredith also has a storyline to resolve. After proposing marriage to Nick Marsh, played by Scott Speedman, at the end of last season, it remains to be seen how this new phase of the couple will unfold.
Who Is the New Doctor Arriving at Grey Sloan
One of the additions is James Wolk, known for his work in Mad Men and Watchmen. The actor plays Dr. Seth Norton, a surgeon-turned-entrepreneur who arrives with a perspective firmly focused on profitability.
Norton will head the hospital’s new VIP area and will seek to add Meredith’s experience. His arrival raises a question that fits perfectly within the show’s universe: what happens when commercial priorities clash with medical decisions? ShondaRhimes’ company Shondaland confirmed that the character will be one of the new presences that will alter Grey Sloan’s dynamic.
Amelia and a Complicated Love Triangle
Romance returns to take center stage. Amelia Shepherd, played by Caterina Scorsone, must face the consequences of her encounter with Cass Beckman, Sophia Bush’s character, while trying to navigate her connection with Toni Wright, played by Jen Landon.
The trailer shows Amelia remorseful and leaves open the possibility of new misunderstandings. A story that promises to blend desire, guilt, and pending decisions.
Meanwhile, Winston Ndugu and Jules Millin, played by Anthony Hill and Adelaide Kane, also appear to be growing closer. But their relationship does not go unnoticed: Ben Warren, Jason George’s character, warns Winston that he will need to clarify the situation.
Link Faces a Worrisome Situation and Bailey Returns to School
Among the more sensitive stories is Atticus “Link” Lincoln, portrayed by Chris Carmack. After the shoulder injury he suffered during the bridge collapse, his use of painkillers begins to raise concerns.
In one trailer scene, Link asks about his medication and Jo Wilson, played by Camilla Luddington, begins to suspect that something isn’t right. The preview suggests that the problematic use of those medications will be one of the season’s conflicts.
Meanwhile, Miranda Bailey, played by Chandra Wilson, will also face a new challenge: returning to school. A change that will reveal another facet of one of fiction’s most beloved doctors.
Link Faces a Worrisome Situation and Bailey Returns to School
The new season will premiere on Thursday, October 15, 2026 on ABC in the United States, and episodes will be available the following day on Hulu for that market. That date corresponds to the U.S. release, not to a confirmed premiere in Argentina.
The first episode, titled “Collide”, will open with a collision at Sea-Tac Airport that will bring a number of critically injured patients. The emergency will test the hospital just as its controversial VIP wing opens.
A combination that fans know well: just when it seems the doctors might regain some calm, a new crisis reshapes everything again.
