Gauze, Organza and Embroidery: Party Dress Trends by Pía Carregal for the New Season

17 September 2026

During the Haute Couture Week by Elina Costantini, Pía Carregal presented a collection that offers a new way of understanding luxury: through time, craft, and experimentation with materials. More than a sequence of dresses, the designer brought to the runway a celebration of artisanal work, where each texture seems to be built piece by piece.

Showcased at the Malba, the collection dialogued with art and nature to bring garments to life where fabrics are the true protagonists.

The trend: textures take control

If, over several seasons, minimalism dominated fashion, Pía Carregal proposes the opposite path. The new season rekindles the pleasure of surfaces rich in detail, embroidery, and volumes that lend depth to each design.

Natural silk gauzes, organza, brocades, taffetas, chiffon-like velvets, tulles, and embroidered fabrics coexisted in a collection where each material expressed its own identity.

More than merely combining fabrics, the designer transforms them. She twists, pleats, wrings, and shapes each textile until achieving unique surfaces that create movement and volume.

Volumes Inspired by Nature en el desfile de Pía Carregal

One of the most interesting aspects of the proposal is the way shapes seem to emerge naturally from the behavior of the fabrics.

The gauzes fall softly and create ethereal silhouettes, while organzas allow for sculptural volumes that envelop the body without losing lightness.

Nature appears as a constant source of inspiration, not through a literal representation, but through movement, organic forms, and the freedom with which each material finds its place within the garment.

A vibrant palette that breaks with neutrals

Color also played a central role. Far from the idea of nature being tied solely to earth tones, Pía Carregal embraced a combination of yellow, pink, green, turquoise, chocolate brown, and cream, building a bright and vibrant palette.

Velvets and laces also added visual depth and reinforced the richness of the textures.

Fashion and Art on the Same Stage

The presentation took on special meaning by taking place at Malba, just days before the opening of the Viva Frida exhibition dedicated to Frida Kahlo.

Although the collection does not aim to reproduce the universe of the Mexican artist, it does engage with some of her values: the construction of a personal identity, the expressive power of color, and the enduring link between art and creation.

For the designer, that encounter between the two disciplines represents a natural moment within a personal journey that, for several years, has incorporated painting and artistic experimentation as part of her creative process.
