Fiorella De Benedictis’s Heartbreaking Farewell to Father Piero: “I Am Your Blood, Old Man”

10 October 2026

Following the death of the singer-songwriter at age 81, his daughter shared intimate photos, family memories, and a message filled with love. The music they shared and a lesson that will remain forever: tenderness.

The death of Piero, the renowned singer-songwriter who left a mark on several generations with songs such as Mi viejo and Para el pueblo lo que es del pueblo, left deep sorrow among his fans and in his closest circle. Amid the outpouring of affection for the artist, his daughter, Fiorella De Benedictis, (the product of the musician’s marriage to his second wife, Mariana Schettini) chose to bid him farewell with a series of photographs that depict the most intimate side of their relationship.

Through her social networks, the young singer shared snapshots from different moments with her father: everyday encounters, outings, conversations, and memories tied to music. The images were accompanied by words that reflected both the sadness of his passing and gratitude for the time they shared.

“Today my smile is clouded, but what a wonderful gift to have you so close. Hold onto tenderness, stay strong, you”, wrote Fiorella in one of the most meaningful portions of her farewell.

Fiorella’s Photos with Her Father Piero

Far from showing only the artist who conquered stages and left unforgettable songs, the photographs reveal the man who shared moments with his daughter. In some images, they appear together during an outing; in others, they are seen talking, posing for the camera, or enjoying encounters connected to the artistic world.

The postcards showcase the closeness between father and daughter and reconstruct a relationship shaped by affection, conversations, and a shared passion for music.

Fiorella was born in 2003, when Piero was already a revered figure in Argentine and Latin American popular music. Over the years, she too found her own artistic path and music became a central part of her life.

On that journey, her father held a special place, not only as a musical reference but also as someone who taught her a way of looking at the world. In an interview published in 2025, the young woman recalled one of the lessons he gave her: “The idea of living life with a touch of tenderness is one of the loveliest things he taught me.”

The Music They Shared and Piero’s Legacy

The bond between them also expressed itself through songs. Father and daughter collaborated on Lo mismo que vos, an EP that brought their voices together and was presented as a project of “social tenderness.”

The project was a way to meet each other through art and to share with the audience a connection that went far beyond family ties. For Fiorella, singing with Piero also meant building memories that today hold a special value.

In her farewell, the young woman again turned to words and musical references to express what she feels in light of his absence.

“I, for my part, will not forget you, perhaps we will meet again. I love you for life, life, life, lifeline”, she wrote, in a message where love and nostalgia intertwine.

She also shared a reflection on the pain of loss: “I am surrendering to the difficulty, but who hasn’t tried to move the wind before falling and staying still? How do we explain death that arrives and becomes a memory?”

“I am your blood, Dad”: the message with which she bid him farewell

Fiorella’s farewell found one of its most personal moments in the words in which she remembered all that her father left her.

“It’s also OK to cry”, she expressed, before closing her post with a statement that directly references Mi viejo, one of Piero’s most emblematic songs.

“I will follow the sun, long live the great love that has pain. I am your blood, my old man. You left me the reins to live life to the fullest as you taught me. Thank you,” she wrote.

The reference to the song that many people connected with the paternal figure took on a deeply personal meaning in her voice. This time, Fiorella put into words the farewell to her father and the place he will hold in her story.

With her photos, memories, and the songs they shared, the young woman chose to celebrate the bond that united them and to keep alive the teachings she received from him. Among them, one keeps appearing in her message: tenderness as a way of living, of loving, and of navigating even the most difficult moments.
