Esteban Lamothe y Débora Nishimoto are crossing one of the most significant moments in their love story: after more than two years of dating, they decided to say yes. The news was announced as an exclusive by Pepe Ochoa on LAM, where they revealed that the couple will marry next December 4.
The confirmation arrived shortly after, when Esteban was interviewed on the show, and although he avoided revealing some details about the celebration, he could not hide his happiness for this new step alongside the actress. “I’m happy, very happy,” he said when asked how he was living the moment.
He also shared that Débora is “happy, happy, happy” and confirmed that the celebration will be small and intimate. When they asked whether the honeymoon was already planned, the actor preferred to keep the mystery and replied that he wouldn’t talk about it anymore.
He also chose not to reveal the exact date during the interview. However, given the information previously shared by LAM about December 4, Lamothe simply kept the date private and left open the possibility of sharing more details the following week.
A love story that began on the set of Envidiosa
The story of Esteban and Débora has a cinematic feel. They met during the filming of the first season of Envidiosa, the Netflix series starring Griselda Siciliani. In the fiction, Nishimoto played Mei, while Lamothe brought to life Matías, the man whom her character loved.
But the romance did not start immediately. For much of the shoot they were colleagues who shared long hours of work, downtime, coffees and chats. And it was precisely in that everyday context where a connection began to emerge that neither of them yet identified as a love story.
“We met on set and shared a lot of downtime and coffees,” Débora said in a 2025 interview with Para Ti. According to her, during the shoot they also exchanged poetry books that they both liked. That small gesture was one of the first moments when she felt there could be something more.
“I chose a book and said: he’s going to like it,” the actress recalled. And when she discovered that he had chosen for her two books that she also loved, she felt there was a kind of connection between the two.
The relationship began to take shape only when only a little time remained to finish filming. Lamothe explained that during filming “there was chemistry and affection,” but it wasn’t yet something “in the realm of love.” A week before filming wrapped, he invited her to his house and that is when the romance started. According to the actor, they only shot one day as a couple.
Débora shared a equally romantic version of that moment: after sharing so many months together, as the shoot neared its end she began to feel nostalgic for that time spent together. “I think we were both looking for an excuse,” she told Para Ti. The excuse turned out to be meeting up, returning books, and making plans to keep sharing time once the series ended.
The first kiss arrived exactly on that first date off the set. “There we realized there was something we were both hiding,” recalled Nishimoto.
A start with distance and a declaration of love
The beginning of the relationship also faced a small test. Shortly after they started dating, Débora had a planned trip to Spain and she left for several weeks. For Lamothe, the distance arrived too soon.
In an interview, the actor said he didn’t know exactly what place he occupied in Débora’s life and that he ended up calling her to ask what would happen between them. “I asked what was going on, that I was here waiting, whether I had to wait or not,” he recalled. She told him yes.
Years later, Débora revealed that that distance was also intense for her. In a recently published interview, she said that while she was in Spain she received a call from Lamothe in which he told her that he was in love and that he loved her.
“I couldn’t believe it because I felt it too, but neither of us had dared to say it,” she recalled. When she returned from Spain, they never separated.

Over time, the relationship grew and added new chapters. In July of this year, Lamothe and Nishimoto revealed that they had decided to move in together. The couple found an apartment after a period of searching and described that change as a very important step in their bond.
In September, Débora spoke with particular excitement about that new phase. She said that together they had joined their daily lives: Esteban’s son, the dog, and their cat. “We pulled everything together and I’m happy, I can’t believe it,” she said.
For her, there was also a fundamental difference compared to other cohabitation experiences: this time both had left their homes to jointly choose a new home. “It’s like a marriage, ‘our nest’,” she defined.

The possibility of getting married wasn’t something Débora had imagined before meeting Lamothe. In an interview with Para Ti published in May 2025, when they were not yet living together, the actress had said she had never really considered marriage as a possibility.
“I don’t think so, but since I met him, I can imagine it now,” she had said when asked if she dreamed of getting married.
At that time, they had only been together a few months and still enjoyed maintaining their own spaces. However, Nishimoto was already talking about a relationship in which she felt comfortable and with which she could project.
