In the midst of the countdown to the arrival of Pope Leo XIV in Argentina, Abel Pintos was summoned to participate in one of the activities the pontiff will undertake during his visit to the country. The singer received a formal invitation from the Vatican to perform as the Pope passes through the Cottolengo Don Orione in Claypole.
Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Argentina is scheduled between November 8 and 11, 2026. The official timetable indicates that on Monday the 9th, at 9:15 a.m., the pontiff will visit the Little Cottolengo Don Orione, located in Claypole, in the Almirante Brown district.
Pintos’ participation had been confirmed after his team received the Vatican’s formal invitation. While a few details remain to be defined, including the repertoire, the singer publicly shared the emotion the invitation had provoked.

Asked by Puro Show (El Trece) about how he envisioned the possibility of singing during the Pope’s visit, Abel Pintos expressed gratitude and spoke of the meaning it held for him given his personal connection to faith.
“Of course that anyone who has been baptized in this religion. But really it is a message of faith,” he explained. The singer also highlighted the reach of Leo XIV’s visit and noted that the presence of a spiritual leader can mobilize people from different places.
“When great spiritual leaders have the opportunity to visit places around the world, such as the pope—a great spiritual leader—the faith of an entire people is mobilized, and I’m not referring only to Argentina,” he said.
In statements released after the invitation was announced, Pintos had also made clear that the experience was difficult to gauge and had stressed that he felt honored to have been considered.
