A Kiss to the Sky: Jairo Remembers Teresa Sainz de los Terreros, His Wife of 50 Years, Five Years After Her Death

30 July 2026

Five years after the death of Teresa Sainz de los Terreros, Jairo paid her another, heartfelt tribute. The singer, who was married to her for five decades and with whom he had four children, shared on Tuesday a series of images of the woman who was his life partner, and accompanied the memory with a short but emotionally charged phrase: “A kiss to the sky. Five years already.”

The message appeared on his Instagram stories, where he posted a collage of photographs of Teresa at different moments of her life. To accompany it, he chose one of his most emblematic songs: “El valle y el volcán”, a classic from his repertoire with lyrics by María Elena Walsh.

Jairo’s memory of Teresa, his partner for five decades

Teresa Sainz de los Terreros was the woman who accompanied Jairo for much of his life. The Córdoba-born singer, hailing from Cruz del Eje, shared with her more than 50 years of marriage and built a family with their children, Iván, Yaco, Mario and Lucía.

Five years after her death, the memory continues to occupy an important place in the artist’s life. This time, he chose social media to once again share some images of Teresa and dedicate a message as brief as it is meaningful.

“A kiss to the sky. Five years already,” he wrote on the photo collage.

The choice of “El valle y el volcán” also did not go unnoticed. The song, composed by Jairo with lyrics by María Elena Walsh, accompanied the images and gave music to an intimate tribute that the singer decided to share with his followers.

Yaco González also remembered his mother

Jairo’s tribute coincided with a message from one of his sons, Yaco González, posted to remember Teresa on this fifth anniversary of her death.

The actor and musician chose an extensive reflection around a word: “lustrum”, a term that refers to a five-year period and is also connected with the idea of polishing, shining, and purifying.

“Five years without you,” wrote Yaco in one of the passages of his letter, using the passage of time as a starting point to speak about his mother’s absence.

In his message he also highlighted Teresa’s strength in the final years of her life and remembered especially how she faced the illness.

“Five years already, Mother. In our intense and now bereaved race against time we used all kinds of denials and lies to keep telling ourselves we were still young,” he wrote.

And he added: “Perseverance, effort, and resilience. In those small heroic acts you were an example, even more so when you faced the last assaults of the disease.”

“Time kills everything except absences”

Yaco’s letter was threaded with a meditation on grief and the way the passage of time alters, but does not necessarily erase, the absence.

In dark nights I often believe that time kills everything except absences,” he wrote.

However, he also found in memory a way to keep the bond with his mother alive. “On bright days I devote myself to polishing the memory of those who are no longer here and I nourish that present path so full of love returned,” he expressed.

Towards the end, he left one of the most personal lines of his tribute: “I miss you, mom. I like to say that I carry you with me, and after a five-year span of many storms, I am a happy man.”

A new chapter in Jairo’s life

In recent years, Jairo has also opened the door to love again. He is currently in a relationship with Laura Bonfante, a lawyer and admirer of his music, with whom he began a new stage of his life.

But the present does not erase the shared history with Teresa. Five years after her death, the singer chose again an image, a song, and a few words to keep her memory alive.

“A kiss to the sky. Five years already,” wrote Jairo. A simple tribute to the woman who was his wife and partner for half a century.
