A few hours ago, alarming news emerged that Fabián Gianola had an accident in public that will require surgery. The actor and host, 63, recounted how the incident occurred and explained what injuries he sustained after the impact.
According to him, in an interview with the portal Teleshow, the accident occurred on Monday, October 19, around 3:00 PM, when he was leaving the DOT shopping center and crossing Deheza Street in the Saavedra neighborhood.
“Yesterday, leaving the DOT at three in the afternoon, a car ran into me. I was crossing Deheza and, as I reached almost the curb opposite, an Audi came along Melián, turned and hit me,” the actor recounted.
How the accident that Fabián Gianola suffered unfolded
As he reconstructs the episode, Gianola explained that the driver did not appear to have tried to swerve before hitting him. “He never braked, I don’t know if he was on the phone or looking elsewhere. But he never braked and hit me. He threw me into the air,” he said.
After the impact, the actor fell to the asphalt. Although the blow was strong, he noted that he was lucky not to strike his head on the curb.
“Fortunately I didn’t hit my head against the curb, because it was very close. I hit the pavement,” he explained.
Gianola also remembered that he managed to get up immediately after the fall. However, he acknowledged that he was in a state of shock due to what happened.
“I stood up immediately, gathered my things, stood on the sidewalk somewhat shocked, but I didn’t have a drop in blood pressure or a heart attack. These fear-inducing, shocking moments can happen,” he related.
What injuries did Fabián Gianola suffer and when will he be operated on
After the accident, the driver remained at the scene and requested medical assistance. According to Gianola, the man called SAME and 911. Then the police and medical personnel arrived, and the actor received medical care through his health coverage.
Although he did not suffer injuries that put his life at risk, the impact caused an exposed fracture of the radius and a ligament injury in the wrist. For this reason, he will undergo surgery to address the injuries.
“Today I met with the surgeon and tomorrow I will be operated on. They’re going to put in a plate with three screws,” he explained regarding the procedure planned for Wednesday, October 21.
The operation will be a major step toward starting his recovery. The immobilization and rehabilitation timeline will depend on how the injuries evolve and the medical team’s recommendations.
What will happen to the performances of The 39 Steps
As a result of the accident and the upcoming surgery, Gianola will have to temporarily suspend his work commitments. The actor is part of The 39 Steps, the play he stars in alongside Fabián Mazzei, Fabiana García Lago, and Carna Crivelli.
Due to what happened, the performances scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday were suspended while the actor prepares for the operation and begins the recovery process.
For now, Gianola has assured that he is out of danger and shared details of the incident to reassure. The evolution of the injuries and the medical indications will determine when he can resume his professional activity.
