Mother’s Day, observed on Sunday, October 18 in Argentina, was marked by messages of love, family memories, and dedications that various figures shared on social media. For those who have lost their mothers, the date was also an opportunity to recall them and express how much they miss them.
One of those tributes came from Benicio Guyot, Ernestina Pais’s son, who died on June 26 at 54 years old in a railway accident while en route to the theater to take part in a performance of The Divorce of the Year, the play directed by José María Muscari in which he worked.
As the offspring of the host and the photographer Alejandro Guyot, Benicio is 22 years old and has always kept a low profile in the media. However, on several occasions he found in social networks a space to express the love he felt for his mother and share memories of the bond that united them.

Almost four months after his passing, the young man published two unpublished photographs to pay tribute to her on a date that was especially sensitive.
The first post was a collage of two black-and-white images. In one of them, Ernestina appears alone, with a slight smile and her head resting. In the other, she is seen with several relatives, including Alejandro Guyot and Benicio himself, as they all observe a photograph.

The second image showed an intimate moment between mother and son. In it, Ernestina appears behind Benicio, gently resting her head on his. Both smile and convey a sense of closeness and complicity.

Without the need to accompany the photographs with long declarations, Benicio once again remembered his mother through family scenes that preserve part of their shared history.
The heartbreaking words of Benicio after Ernestina Pais’s death
A few hours after news of Ernestina’s death became known, Benicio had shared an emotional letter in which he expressed the pain of the loss and recalled the unconditional bond they maintained. “There are things I would love to tell you that eternity will take away. There are moments inside me that my brain will never forget,” he began writing.
Then he recalled one of the traits he would miss most about his mother: the constant demonstrations of affection she gave. “Your sticky and constant ‘I love yous’ I will always keep very close to me. I don’t think there was a single day when I didn’t hear, with that peculiar voice you had, a ‘I love you, son’,” he expressed.
Benicio also referred to the impact of the host’s death and the affection he received from people who, even without knowing him personally, wanted to accompany him in that moment.
“Your departure is not like any other. You appear on television, in the news, in forums. Escaping this loss will be difficult. But it brings something good, because a lot of people admired you and loved what you represented. The number of messages that arrived surprised me. People I don’t know reach out just to tell me that the laughs and the beautiful moments you made them live stayed with them. That your impact was real,” he wrote in another paragraph.

Toward the end of his letter, the young man listed the images and gestures with which he would choose to remember Ernestina: her broad smile, her unmistakable laughter, the desire to see him happy, and the spontaneity she kept since she was a child.
“With that smile from cheek to cheek that could light up even the darkest room, I will remember you. With that laugh that could be heard from the far end of the house, I will remember you. With those wishes to see me well despite all my mistakes, I will remember you. With that girl living inside you, I will remember you. You were, you are, and you will be eternal. I love you, mom.”
Through those unpublished photographs, Benicio once again put the love and the camaraderie he shared with Ernestina in the foreground. An intimate tribute through which he chose to keep alive his mother’s memory on a date touched by emotion and nostalgia.
