Piero’s death shook the world of music and also those who shared part of his family history. One of the most heartfelt farewells came from Marcela Tinayre, who used her Instagram Stories to pay tribute to the renowned singer with a message full of affection and a very special nod to Ámbar de Benedictis, his granddaughter.
Set to the melody of Soy pan, soy paz, soy más, one of the emblematic songs of his career, a photo of the artist became the backdrop for words that reflected the warmth and respect she felt for him.
“Piero has left us, an immense artist, with a unique sensitivity and a body of work that crossed generations. He was a gentleman, a true gentleman. My affection to his entire family and especially to my beloved Ámbar“.

The dedication did not go unnoticed. Ámbar de Benedictis, daughter of Juana Viale and Juan de Benedictis, is the musician’s paternal granddaughter. Although the relationship between Juana and Juan ended many years ago, the family bond has always endured through affection, and Tinayre’s words made evident the deep respect that existed for the artist.
The bond that united Piero with Marcela Tinayre’s family
Piero, whose full name was Piero Antonio Franco de Benedictis, was Ámbar’s paternal grandfather, born on March 30, 2003. The young woman, who keeps a low profile and stays away from the limelight, thus received a message specially addressed by her maternal grandmother in a moment of deep sorrow.
The family history began in the early 2000s, when Juana Viale began a relationship with Juan de Benedictis. From that love story was born Ámbar, who since then has united two beloved families of Argentine show business.
An artist who left an indelible mark
Piero died at 81 after remaining hospitalized due to complications from pneumonia. His passing triggered a wide response among colleagues, artists, and media figures who remembered not only his talent but also his warmth as a person.
Author of classics such as Mi viejo, Los americanos, and Soy pan, soy paz, soy más, the singer left behind a body of work that marked several generations and a legacy that will live on through his songs.
Marcela Tinayre’s farewell summarized that shared feeling: farewell to an enormous artist, but also to a man who, as she wrote, was “a true gentleman”.
The moving relationship between Piero and his granddaughter Ámbar de Benedictis: the song that united them

Piero’s passing left a huge void in Argentina’s popular music scene, but also in his closest circle. Besides being one of the country’s most beloved artists, he was a very present grandfather to Ámbar de Benedictis, the daughter of Juana Viale and Juan de Benedictis. United by affection and also by music, they shared a very special bond that the singer himself recalled on more than one occasion. In fact, one of his most emblematic songs occupied a privileged place in his granddaughter’s heart and became, over the years, a symbol of that relationship that today takes on an even more emotional meaning after his death.
The day Ámbar invited her grandfather to sing at school
The relationship between them also had music as the protagonist of a very special memory.
When Ámbar attended a French school, she had to complete a project with a family member. She could choose among different artistic expressions, such as a story, a poem, or a song.
The granddaughter of Piero chose music and decided to invite her grandfather to participate.
“Grandpa, would you like to come and sing a song?”, she asked him.
The singer agreed and went to the school accompanied by his son Juan and two of his granddaughters. The four ended up on stage, singing in front of the entire school.

For Piero, that moment meant much more than a school performance: it was also the opportunity to share with his granddaughter one of the things that had threaded his life.
The photos Ámbar shared of Piero for his 80th birthday
Years later, Ámbar again left a public record of the relationship she had with her grandfather.
On April 19, 2025, on the occasion of Piero’s 80th birthday, she shared on her social networks various images of the singer. It was one of the few times she publicly showed part of her family’s private life.

Among the photographs there was a black-and-white image of Piero, relaxed and reading a comic, taken by Ámbar herself. Also visible were various corners of the family home: the garden, a black Labrador, and a room lit by a warm glow.
Far from the stages and the public spotlight that accompanied his career for decades, those images showed Piero in a much more intimate facet: that of a grandfather.
After his death, those photographs and the memory of that song Ámbar particularly enjoyed remain part of a family history woven through music. A bond between grandfather and granddaughter that found in songs a very personal way to meet one another.
