A few days before wrapping up his theater season of Secreto en la montaña, the play he starred in alongside Esteban Lamothe, Benjamín Vicuña embarked on a new journey abroad to pursue a film project.
True to his sensitive style, the Chilean actor shared in his Instagram stories some details of his arrival in Madrid, a city that holds a special meaning for him due to the various audiovisual projects he has carried out there over the years.
Vicuña published an image of the views from his hotel, where the Palacio de la Equitativa could be seen, and revealed that his stay in the Spanish capital is linked to a new film by the renowned director Álex de la Iglesia.
The arrival in Madrid also awakened some nostalgia in the actor, who recalled his previous work in Spain and the history he built with the European country over two decades.
“It’s been twenty years already since that first time, for Fuera de Carta. Then came Los Hombres de Paco, Vis a Vis, Inés del Alma Mía, El Silencio de Marcos Tremmer,” expressed Vicuña as he revisited some of the audiovisual projects he carried out in Spain.

According to the actor, his new project is titled El malentendido and is a comedy set in the early 20th century. The story revolves around a diplomatic conflict between two fictional European powers, Litovenia and Stalovaquia.
“Also the theater tour with Eva Perón, by Copi. Today it is El Malentendido. Another adventure in this place that captivates me,” expressed Vicuña, highlighting the fond link he maintains with Spain.
The plot begins when the representatives of both powers provoke a diplomatic incident after confusing a compliment with an insult during a high-level meeting of the League of Nations.
The film production will be led by Pokeepsie Films S.L., with Carolina Bang at the helm. The cast will also feature figures such as Carlos Areces and Manuel Tafallé, who will share the project with Vicuña.

Thus, the Chilean actor returns to Madrid to tackle a new professional challenge and continue a story with Spain that began two decades ago.
