Julieta and Rosario Ortega traveled to Tucumán and explored Lules, the town where their father, Palito Ortega, spent part of his childhood and took his first steps before becoming one of the most popular figures in Argentine music. Among photographs, landscapes and family memories, the sisters revisited a story that remains very much present.
Julieta and Rosario Ortega Return to Palito’s Roots
The sisters Ortega’s trip to Lules was tied to their father’s tour, “Muchacho que vas cantando”, the show in which Palito revisits some of the great hits of his career.
But for Julieta and Rosario, the journey through Tucumán held meaning that went far beyond music. Together they visited some of the places that form part of the family history and that for decades they had known through their father’s stories.
The community of Lules welcomed them warmly and the sisters were able to share anecdotes and memories linked to Palito’s presence in the town.
The House Where Palito Ortega Lived
One of the most meaningful moments of the trip was reuniting with the house where Palito lived during his childhood.
The dwelling remains closed and, according to Julieta, was purchased by neighborhood residents who decided to preserve it. The photo of the sisters sitting on the doorstep became one of the most emotional images of the journey.
They also brought an old photograph of a young Palito in front of that same house. The image created a particular play between past and present: the singer pictured decades ago and his daughters occupying the same scene today.
Julieta had shared in an interview with Mirtha Legrand what it meant to return to that place. “My legs went weak. I don’t know if I had returned to visit it. Besides, the house is intact,” she recalled.
And she also explained a peculiarity of that dwelling: “The house wasn’t even my father’s; my dad worked at the Lules sugar mill and every employee was given a house, and that is the one that fell to them.”
For the actress, Lules preserves a very particular atmosphere. “Lules has something cinematic about it, because it has endured over time”, she described, also recalling the train station and other corners of the town.
The Train Station and Lules’ Landscapes
Julieta and Rosario’s journey also included the Lules train station, one of the places that keep the town’s identity alive.
The sisters walked along the platforms and posed in front of the station’s traditional sign, adding new postcards to a journey threaded with family memory.
Julieta also visited the Quebrada de Lules, another landscape that was part of her tour through Tucumán.
The photographs show the sisters enjoying different moments of the trip, always with their father’s memory as the guiding thread.
A Journey Interwoven with Family History
Among the images they shared you can also find old photographs of Palito and local specialty products, such as strawberries. Each postcard adds a piece to that journey through the family’s past and allows reconstructing, from the present, some of the scenes that marked the singer’s early years.
For Julieta and Rosario, returning to Lules meant encountering a part of their father’s history that until now had remained mainly in memories and family stories.
The house, the station, the landscapes and the old photographs thus function as a bridge between generations. A journey in which Palito’s daughters could get to know up close that geography that is part of their roots and reconnect with a history that, although it began several decades ago, still remains alive.
