One of the crime stories that shocked Argentina the most returns to the screen, this time through a fiction film. “Barreda” arrived on Prime Video this Friday, August 28 and reconstructs the quadruple femicide committed by Ricardo Barreda in La Plata in 1992.
In that context, Carla Peterson, who plays Gladys McDonald, shared on her social networks some behind-the-scenes images from the shoot. The actress posted a carousel with photographs alongside her castmates and showed part of the intimacy of a filming process threaded by a particularly sensitive story.
“Behind the scenes of Barreda. Moments that do not appear on screen but are the heart of all this,” Peterson wrote alongside the images.

Among the photographs shared by the actress, one could see the leads who portray the four murdered women. Peterson posed with Mercedes Morán, who plays Elena Arreche, her mother-in-law in the fiction, and Maite Lanata and Margarita Páez, who embody Cecilia and Adriana, respectively.
Also appeared Luis Machín, who plays Ricardo Barreda, the dentist responsible for the murders.
The cast is completed by actors such as Marcelo Subiotto, Paola Barrientos and Alberto Ajaka, in a production directed by Daniela Goggi.
Through the carousel, Peterson showed various moments from the shoot, spontaneous selfies and scenes shared with her colleagues. She also included images from wardrobe fittings and photographs showing the recreation of the house linked to the case.
The snapshots offer another side of a production that, behind the scenes, was shaped by the collaborative work of a cast that had to reconstruct a story marked by violence.
What the film “Barreda” is about
The story dates back to November 15, 1992, when Ricardo Barreda killed the four women of his family in the home they shared in La Plata.
The victims were his wife, Gladys McDonald; his mother-in-law, Elena Arreche; and his daughters, Cecilia and Adriana Barreda. The film reconstructs the crime and, at the same time, seeks to recover the stories of those four women, which for decades were eclipsed by the figure of their killer.
One of the main axes of the production is precisely to revisit the gaze that turned Barreda into a figure of Argentine popular culture. For years, the case was approached from the perpetrator’s perspective and even a narrative emerged that depicted him as something of a victim.
The new film proposes shifting away from that narrative and placing Gladys, Elena, Cecilia, and Adriana at the forefront. The official Prime Video synopsis itself sums up that intention by stating that, for years, “nobody asked about the four dead women.”
In that sense, Barreda not only reconstructs the crime that shook La Plata but also proposes looking at the story again from the perspective of the women who were murdered.
More than three decades after the event, the film seeks to recover their names, their ties, and their lives so that the story is not reduced solely to the surname of the man who killed them.
