Motorsport Tragedy: Former Ferrari Driver Dies at 39

A few hours ago, news broke that sent shockwaves through the world of motorsport. Cédric Sbirrazzuoli, a Monaco-born driver renowned for his endurance racing career, died last Friday, August 20, exactly on the day he turned 39.

According to reports, the driver passed away after being diagnosed with cancer. The news stirred deep sorrow among his colleagues, fans and loved ones, especially given the unusual timing of his death.

Sbirrazzuoli had spent a significant portion of his sporting career in endurance competitions and maintained an extensive professional relationship with AF Corse and Ferrari. He also competed in series such as ELMS, IMSA and GT World Challenge Europe.

The emotional farewell from his wife

The news of his passing was confirmed through the social networks of Martina Sbirrazzuoli, his wife, with whom he had married barely a few months earlier, in June. In a lengthy message accompanied by photographs and memories of their relationship, Martina bid farewell to the person she described as her life partner.

“My heart breaks at saying goodbye to my soulmate, my husband, my best friend and my adventure partner. 🤍”, she began writing.

She then expressed the importance that Sbirrazzuoli held in her life: “Words could never describe what you meant to me, nor the love we shared. You were my person, my home, my refuge and a fundamental part of who I am”.

One detail that moved her the most was that the driver died precisely on his birthday. “You left this world on your birthday, at 9:10 p.m., the same time you arrived 39 years ago. Somehow, I feel that life closes a cycle. 🤍”, she wrote.

A memory marked by travel and racing

In her farewell, Martina also shared various postcards of the life they built together. The images spanned travels, getaways, everyday moments and celebrations, as well as several scenes tied to Cédric’s passion for motorsport.
