On Saturday, August 15, Romina Gaetani was one of the guests on La Noche de Mirtha, the historic El Trece program hosted by Mirtha Legrand. During an in-depth conversation, the actress spoke about violence in romantic relationships, recalled the report she filed against her ex-partner Luis Cavanagh, and reflected on the patterns she seeks to identify and work on in her emotional life.
In the middle of the conversation, Gaetani acknowledged that she was in love when she went through that relationship. “I was in love. Yes, of course,” she admitted. She also said she has always preferred older men: “I like tall men. Always, since I was a girl,” she noted when referring to the age difference with Cavanagh, who is 18 years older than her.
The actress explained that, over time, she learned to recognize certain signals of violence and highlighted the importance of listening to the stories of people who go through these situations.
“When you listen to a victim of psychological, emotional, economic, or physical abuse… the story of all of them is the same, the way they tell it is the same. That is where you realize that the woman is not lying,” she stated.

The conversation led to the complaint Gaetani filed against Cavanagh in December. The actress explained that there was an incident that served as a definitive boundary. “For me, when it happened to me, the first and only time, I knew immediately that that was my limit,” she said.
However, she acknowledged that before that episode she had endured other situations that she chose to justify or let go.
“That’s what I want to highlight. My limit may not have been other humiliations or other acts of disrespect that I admitted at the time. I let them pass, justified them… If that person says they are in love and asks for forgiveness… those people always raise the stakes,” she reflected.
From that experience, Gaetani also began a personal process to review her own choices and detect patterns that may repeat themselves in different relationships.
