The Spanish Royal Family once again demonstrated why each of their appearances generates such anticipation. This Tuesday, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, together with Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, arrived in Barcelona to participate in the activities preceding the ceremony of the Princess of Girona Awards 2026.
However, beyond the institutional event, there was one detail that caught the attention of fashion enthusiasts: the outfits chosen by the three royals almost perfectly recreated the colors of the French flag.
A coincidence that did not go unnoticed, especially because today Spain and France face each other in the World Cup quarterfinals.
Blue, Red and White: An Unexpected Combination
Queen Letizia chose an elegant blue tailored suit, a garment she had debuted in 2024, which once again proved the enduring appeal of well-cut basics. She completed the ensemble with a black top and a Mango handbag, adding a contemporary touch.
Meanwhile, Princess Leonor debuted a two-piece ensemble in a vibrant red shade, confirming her taste for bold colors and silhouettes inspired by tailoring.

Infanta Sofía chose a flawless white suit from Sézane, a minimalist and sophisticated proposal that balanced the palette.
Together, the three created a harmonious image that, inevitably, reminded of the colors of the French flag: blue, white and red… or, in this case, an orange hue very close to red in fashion terms.
Three Styles, One Elegance
Beyond the curious color coincidence, each one maintained her own stylistic identity.

Letizia once again demonstrated that reusing garments can be as elegant as unveiling a new design. Leonor reaffirmed her progression toward a more modern and sophisticated wardrobe, while Sofía continues to solidify a fresh, minimalist style that aligns closely with European trends.
An Important Appointment for the Royal Family
Before the Princess of Girona Awards ceremony, the kings and their daughters took part in a meeting with members of the Foundation’s board and shared a lunch with the winners of this edition.

It is anticipated that during tonight’s gala, the three will again draw all eyes with new outfits, at one of the most significant events on the Spanish monarchy’s institutional calendar.
